Dean’s musical contributions became widely recognized as part of the dynamic country music trio, Trick Pony, in the late 1990s. During this time, Dean co-wrote some of their most successful songs, "Pour Me," "On a Mission," and "Just What I Do." The trio's achievements included winning the American Music Award for “Top New Artist” and Country Music Association’s “Artist of the Year.”

A prolific songwriter, Dean, has had songs recorded by Ronnie Dunn, Rascal Flatts, Joe Nichols, Chris Young, Trace Adkins, Colt Ford, Heidi Newfield, Jake Owen, including Gary Allan’s hit single, “Feeling Like That.” His songs cut by Montgomery Gentry, include the hit single “One In Every Crowd” and "I'll Keep The Kids." Dean co-wrote Aaron Lewis’ #1 hit “Am I The Only One”, and co-produced Lewis’ #1 album Frayed At Both Ends.

Ira's highly anticipated forthcoming new album, I Got Roads, which Dean says tells his entire story his way will be released on 8 Track Entertainment in 2025. Featuring John Osborne, Vince Gill, Ronnie Dunn, Gretchen Wilson and more, I Got Roads is a tale of redemption, growth and finding happiness.
